Media Awards

 One of my favourite productions from the media awards was a fantasy clip created by Tulika. I was particularly impressed by the various camera angles and the creative editing, especially the effects used on the main character’s eyes. The sound design was top-notch, with sound effects and voice distortions that really enhanced the experience. The narrative was engaging and kept me hooked throughout, with the chase scene being a standout moment—it was suspenseful and thrilling. The use of props, like the hacker mask and the glasses, was clever and added depth to the story.

Another production I enjoyed featured a tense ransom scene. I loved the shot where the camera peeked through the crevice of a door to capture a close-up of a little girl’s eye—it was incredibly effective. The use of a prop phone to take ransom photos of the girl heightened the suspense, and the dark lighting when the girl was shoved onto the floor added a chilling, sinister tone to the scene.

1) What meanings are the audience encouraged to take about the two main characters from the opening of the film?   The main characters are hooligans and they are only looking to cause trouble 2) How does the end of the film emphasise de Saussure’s belief that signs are polysemic – open to interpretation or more than one meaning?
